This years harvest was picked January 2008. A small parcel this year and expecting to release around June 2008.
Bottled on the week of 31 March 2008 - intense passionfruit on the nose and citrus tropical fruit on the palate. No under ripe characters as picked at a perfect time.

Chardonnay -2008
Our Chardonnay is picked 2nd February 2008 from our Milbrodale Vineyard. Sugar level is lower than usual and has been done for a number of reasons. Firstly consumers are getting tired of big blousy chardonnay and are leaning towards light and crisp. Lower alcohol allows to be refreshed without getting too tipsy. Secondly, the weather in the Hunter this year has been cooler and wet. Disease pressure is high and a number of bunches have been affected by bunch rot (botrytis). We have removed the rotten grapes prior to harvest but felt the weather this year is closing in on us so decided to harvest.

JV Shiraz -2008 Probably one of the best Hunter Shiraz that you could ever get. When you pour it into the glass it is black, Raspberries, dark chocolate, peppery spice and tobacco. Length is beyond 40 seconds and changes constantly. Great with cheese or rich food. Low sulphur (approx 15 ppm at bottling) as with all our wines they are made low allergenic.
JV Merlot -2007 Probably one of the best merlot you could ever try. Very fruity and no soapy taste which many merlots often end up like.

The 2009 Vintage did not meet our expectations and as result we decided to release it under another label (JRW & Roses) and sold through Grays Online. Unfortunately since the reserve price did not even pay for the glass bottles let alone the carton it was a dis-heartening. We will never do that again. The wine was still drinkable and improved with bottle age. But to go under the Milldale label it just has to be a top wine with the ability to age.
